About The Position

The LPN in the Pulmonary Department at National Jewish Health provides compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals with complex respiratory conditions. Working within a nationally recognized leader in pulmonary medicine, this role supports high-quality clinical care through strong nursing fundamentals and collaboration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting our medical team in providing high-quality care to patients with sleep disorders. Position Summary To deliver safe and appropriate nursing care within scope of practice, and established policies and procedures. Administers allergen immunotherapy, as well as biologic injections and immunizations. Responsible for monitoring for antigen expiration dates, ordering new antigens, assisting in obtaining insurance authorization of biologic injections.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an Accredited LPN Program required.
  • Current Colorado LPN license required.
  • CPR/BLS required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of recent and related experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • IV certification may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe and appropriate patient care within scope of practice and established policies and procedures.
  • Accurately administers allergen immunotherapy, biologic injections and immunizations.
  • Monitors patient's condition by observing, collecting, reporting, and recording objective/subjective data; identifies changes in the patient's condition; collect data and report sign and symptoms of deviation from normal health status, symptoms and/or reactions to medications and treatments; initiates appropriate standard emergency procedures and reports adverse patient conditions to physician, or registered nurse.
  • Supports physicians and other medical providers in the care and treatment of patients, including rooming the patient; communicating delays to patient, provider, and team members; and facilitating the medical provider's schedule.
  • Utilizes departmental processes of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide continuing health care to individuals, families.
  • Records pertinent information in patient's medical chart, e.g., patient's nursing history, physical data, vital signs, symptoms, treatments, examinations, medications administered, reactions and general observations, according to standard requirements.
  • Provides appropriate education to patients/families utilizing effective teaching skills, and National Jewish supportive materials.
  • Assists in orienting and training new employees, as assigned.
  • May perform the duties of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or Medical Receptionist, as required.
  • Implements care and services that recognize age-specific needs and issues for customers served.
