Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN school of nursing with one year of experience in the administration of medication or in a substance abuse treatment, psychiatric setting, or long term care facility including the dispensing of narcotic medication.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medications commonly prescribed in mental health and substance abuse treatment.
  • Strong understanding of supportive counseling practices and the behavioral characteristics of individuals facing these challenges.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with regulations related to controlled substances.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the staff psychiatrist with the prescription, administration, and monitoring of client medications.
  • Performing routine physical and mental health nursing assessments.
  • Administering prescribed medications.
  • Providing supportive counseling to enhance clients’ recovery journey.
  • Monitoring clients' medical needs.
  • Conducting drug testing and other medical screenings.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations regarding controlled substances.
  • Maintaining accurate client medical records.
