About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Occupational Health, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing professional practical nursing services to the WRHA Influenza program for staff immunizations. The LPN will demonstrate a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the Regional/Shared Health OESH program. The LPN is responsible to administer influenza vaccines while adhering to all safety and health regulations and safe work practices. LPNs provide, collect, and document information regarding influenza vaccines, and will be required to work at multiple sites dependent on the Influenza vaccine schedule.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing Education program required.
  • Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
  • Valid driver‘s license and access to a reliable motor vehicle suitable for all environmental conditions.
  • Knowledge of College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Knowledge of College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba Code of Ethics for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Knowledge of Scope of practice as documented in the Licensed Practical Nurses Act.
  • Knowledge of Regional/MB Renal Program policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Nursing care related to the clinical area.
  • Knowledge of Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.
  • Knowledge of Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team.
  • Knowledge of Principles of delegation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking/problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients.
  • Ability to delegate care appropriately and monitor outcomes of delegated care.

  • Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
  • An employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT.
