Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - New Grads
About The Position
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for new graduate hires. All new graduate LPNs will be hired into an existing role with a minimum 0.7 FTE for the first six months of their employment. VCH is implementing minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs) to enhance nursing practice and quality of care. This initiative is a partnership between the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU), and health organizations. VCH is committed to fostering quality practice and learning environments. Opportunities are available in North Vancouver, Richmond, Vancouver, Sunshine Coast, and Squamish, across various clinical areas including Acute Care, Long Term Care, Mental Health, and Rehabilitation.
Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team, performs full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document client care, and provide support to clients and their families.
- Work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision, support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Maintain and advance clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licenced Practical Nurses.
