About The Position

The LPN works under the supervision of the department Director and Manager, and the registered nurse. They are responsible for providing nursing care for acutely ill patients. The nurse performs assigned procedures that are within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing. Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN. Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication. Documents patient care provided. Assists RN with development of plan of care. Assists patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and family. Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program required with a current unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse License in Iowa or from a Compact State.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Recent RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year med/surg nursing experience
