About The Position

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System - Lawrenceburg is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for their Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) unit. This full-time night position involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Med/Surg unit offers a supportive, family-oriented environment within a fast-paced setting, contributing significantly to hospital admissions and patient care.

Requirements

  • Current Tennessee or compact state LPN license
  • Completion of a Practical Nursing Program
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 7 days of hire
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Decisive judgment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • Graduate of a Practical Nursing program
  • LPN License for the State of Tennessee

Nice To Haves

  • One-year previous experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Under the direction of an RN or Med-Surge Charge Nurse, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.
  • Assists RN with development of plan of care.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
