This is an acute care medical-surgical unit, a 24-bed unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio and a 1:10 CA-to-nurse ratio. The unit serves a diverse patient population including medical, surgical, testing, and observation patients. Common comorbidities include diabetes, hypertension, stroke, renal, and psychiatric conditions. The team fosters a strong team culture, improved nurse communication, and a commitment to Sovah Health core values.
Requirements
- A degree/diploma from a practical nursing school
- A current VA (or Multi-state) LPN license
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support

Responsibilities
- Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
- Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication.
- Documents patient care provided.
- Assists RN with development of plan of care.
- Assists patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and family.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
