About The Position

The MAT Specialist Licensed Practical Nurse provides specialized nursing care and clinical support to patients enrolled in the Medication-Assisted Treatment program. Working with the MAT Medical Director and interdisciplinary care team, this role supports the safe, structured, and compliant delivery of services for patients receiving treatment for opioid and alcohol use disorders. Responsibilities include supporting intake and screening, administering medications, monitoring patients, identifying withdrawal symptoms, preventing diversion, coordinating care, and maintaining documentation and medication accountability. The position promotes continuity of care, patient safety, and compliance with applicable policies, procedures, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
  • Must complete and maintain all required MAT specific training and competency requirements as established by the organization, facility, and /or applicable regulatory requirements.
  • This position is available only to those who reside in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care, support MAT intake and screening activities, and monitor patients for changes in condition, withdrawal symptoms, medication response, adverse reactions, and other clinical concerns.
  • Administer oral and injectable MAT medications as ordered and provide required post-administration observation and monitoring.
  • Educate patients about MAT medications, treatment expectations, medication compliance, safety, wellness, and continuity of care.
  • Maintain medication accountability and security, complete required counts and documentation, and report discrepancies, suspected diversion, or medication errors.
  • Implement treatment programs, obtain diagnostic tests, respond to health emergencies, document nursing encounters, and communicate patient information to the appropriate care team members.
