Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Long Term Care
About The Position
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is implementing minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs) to enhance nursing practice and quality of care. VCH is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at the Berkley Care Centre in North Vancouver, BC. This role operates within a client and family-centred care model and adheres to the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice. The LPN will perform the full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of client care. They will also provide support to clients and their families. In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team and under general supervision, the LPN will support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or complex care needs. The role requires maintaining and advancing clinical competence according to BCCNM standards.
Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Report past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections as per Ministry of Health policy.
Responsibilities
- Performs full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty.
- Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents client care.
- Provides support to clients and their families.
- Supports the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Maintains and advances clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licensed Practical Nurses.
