Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Long Term Care
About The Position
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is implementing minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs) to enhance nursing practice and quality of care. This initiative is a partnership between the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU), and health organizations. VCH is committed to fostering quality practice and learning environments. This role involves working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Hilltop House in Squamish, BC. Hilltop House is an 86-bed long term care facility for seniors with complex needs, providing home-like care, respite care, a community bathing program, and adult day care. The facility is located about an hour north of Vancouver via the Sea to Sky highway and offers abundant recreational activities and a growing arts and culture scene.
Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
- Perform full scope of practical nursing functions for clients within a designated area of specialty.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document client care.
- Provide support to clients and their families.
- Support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Maintain and advance clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licenced Practical Nurses.
