Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Long Term Care - Willingdon Creek Village
About The Position
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Chronic Complex Care Unit at Willingdon Creek Village in Powell River, B.C. This role involves performing the full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes, including assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting client care. The LPN will also provide support to clients and their families, and work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary care team under general supervision. Additionally, the LPN will support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes, and may work under the direction of an RN for patients requiring advanced knowledge and skills beyond the LPN scope of practice. Relocation Assistance may be available. Nurses may be eligible for Federal student loan forgiveness.
Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform the full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty including activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families.
- Work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision, and support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes.
- Work under the direction of an RN for patients where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
