About The Position

This role involves providing wound-related patient care under the direction of an RN/Provider, adhering to Basic Life Support (BLS) and hospital protocols. The position may also include performing hyperbaric oxygen therapy after required training, assisting with patient intake and discharge, gathering patient information and necessary supplies, and reporting quality of care issues to the Clinical Nurse Manager. Effective communication with team members regarding therapeutic interventions is essential to ensure quality of care. The role also encompasses performing other delegated duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program/state approved educational program
  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of practice -to maintain throughout the duration of employment in the position
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience as LPN/LVN, to include one (1) or more years in SNF or LTACH setting
  • Demonstrated competency in BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Demonstrated organization, prioritization and time-management skills
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory/accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, as well as oral and written communication skills
  • Customer service skills and follow-up skills
  • Ability to multi-task and to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with others and in a team environment
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to stay calm in all situations
  • Working knowledge of computerized nursing systems

  • Wound care experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the RN/Provider, provides wound-related patient care according to Basic Life Support (BLS) and approved and hospital protocols, Policies & Procedures
  • Performs hyperbaric oxygen therapy related duties, as needed, after completing the required hyperbaric training
  • May assist with intake and discharge.
  • Gathers patient information.
  • Gathers necessary equipment and supplies for the RN or provider.
  • Reports quality of care issues to Clinical Nurse Manager.
  • Communicates as needed with all team members regarding therapeutic interventions, to ensure quality of care.
  • Performs other duties as delegated.
