About The Position

Wilson Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for their Urology Clinic. This in-person role operates Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts. The urology clinic provides comprehensive outpatient care for patients across various age groups, with a team including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, LPNs, and clinical support staff working collaboratively to ensure efficient patient flow, timely access to testing and procedures, and high-quality patient care. As a member of the Health Support Center (HSC) team, you will support those in our facilities who are interfacing and providing care to our patients and community members.

Requirements

  • Current and valid NC LPN license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS certification (required or obtained during first week of hire)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance policies, and prior authorization procedures
  • Proficiency with EMR and scheduling software
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain strict confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of prior clinic experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates patient testing, appointment scheduling, and prior authorizations to ensure timely access to care.
  • Assists MD/NPs in direct patient care including equipment preparation, obtaining/updating medical history, vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
  • Manages prescription refills as authorized by the provider.
  • Obtains insurance pre-authorizations for testing and scheduling.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and visitors.
  • Provides direct patient care within the LPN scope of practice.
  • Takes verbal orders from providers and documents appropriately.
  • May administer oral and parenteral medications (except IV) under physician supervision.
  • Completes all documentation in a timely manner.
  • Oversees appointment booking and prioritizes emergent patient needs.
  • Maintains timely patient flow and assists with exam room preparation, restocking, and cleaning.
  • Performs miscellaneous clinic office duties as needed.
