About The Position

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking a compassionate and dependable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Child & Adolescent Outpatient team in Hampton. In this role, you'll provide nursing support to children and adolescents receiving behavioral health services and medication management. You'll work closely with psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, families, and other members of the treatment team to promote safe, coordinated, and person-centered care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program with a current, active Virginia LPN license with the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • One (1) year of experience administering medications in a psychiatric, behavioral health, substance use treatment, long-term care, or related healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support psychiatrists with medication management and treatment planning.
  • Administer, monitor, order, and dispense medications while maintaining medication safety and security.
  • Complete medical intakes, vital signs, and routine physical and mental health assessments.
  • Monitor clients for medication effectiveness, side effects, and changes in condition.
  • Provide medication education and supportive communication to children, adolescents, and families.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, medication records, and required reports.
  • Manage medication inventory and ensure proper storage and security.
  • Coordinate medical appointments, follow-up care, and communication with the treatment team.
