About The Position

Join our Labor and Delivery team as a Licensed Practical Nurse! This is a full-time opportunity that will work day shift, including rotating weekend and holiday shifts! You may be eligible for a sign on bonus of up to $12,500 with a two-year commitment! This role will include exciting and impactful work with our delivering patients including scrubbing into surgery, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting RNs with deliveries. LPNs with internal motivation, organization, and an eagerness to learn are highly encouraged to apply! The final candidate will be placed in the appropriate title by the recruitment team and manager. The minimum hiring rate for an LPN is $27.39. The LPN will act as a member of the health-care team by exercising sound nursing judgment based on preparation, knowledge, experience in nursing and competency and able to provide care and IV therapy following UPMC LPN Practice Guidelines and policies, and the State Board Regulations. The Licensed Practical Nurse participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care using focused assessment in settings where nursing takes place under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other licensed UPMC provider. In this role, the LPN must take nurse assignment at the top of their license in a med/surg/tele or Emergency Department setting.

Requirements

Graduation from a State Board of Nursing approved Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
0-2 years of experience.
Completion of IV therapy curriculum within 4 months of hire/transfer.
Ability to take nurse assignments at the top of LPN license in med/surg/tele or Emergency Department settings.
Knowledge and skills to provide care and interact appropriately with patients of all ages.
Understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan.
Ability to assess patient status and interpret age-specific needs.
Identify and implement process improvement opportunities for patient care.
Collaborate with health care team, patients, and families to achieve desired outcomes.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with all staff and patients/families.
Work effectively in a complex environment with multiple/changing priorities.
Mobility, visual manual dexterity, and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
Computer skills to utilize electronic health records.
LPN must maintain state licensure where they are practicing or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.
If graduated prior to 2012, the LPN will need to provide official proof of completion of IV therapy approved program within 4 months of hire/transfer.
Basic Life Support OR Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.

Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
