About The Position

Conemaugh Physicians Group is part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network. This position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in their Internal Medicine Residency Clinic. The clinic is a collaborative and patient-focused environment dedicated to delivering exceptional care while supporting the education and development of future physicians. The team consists of 25 Internal Medicine residents, five experienced faculty physicians, two Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and two Medical Office Assistants. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with another LPN, sharing responsibilities and providing coverage. Collaboration with Medical Office Assistants is also key to ensuring timely, coordinated, and compassionate care. The clinic fosters a culture of teamwork, respect, continuous learning, and professional growth. As a residency program, it provides a dynamic and engaging environment for contributing to the development of future healthcare providers and expanding one's own skills and knowledge. The schedule is Monday through Friday, daylight hours (typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), with occasional days extending beyond 4:00 p.m. to ensure patient needs are met.

Requirements

  • Current (single-state or compact) LPN license.
  • Graduate of a program for licensed practical nurses.
  • One year in a physician office setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assists medical staff in carrying out plans for care of patients.
  • Determines nursing care needs of the patient.
  • Develops, implements, and updates nursing care plans in an outpatient setting.
  • Coordinates and orients new nursing personnel with regards to office set-up, requirements, associated activities and procedures.
  • Coordinates special activities with the hospital, such as direct admissions from the office or any other unique requirements.
  • Handles patient telephone inquiries.
  • Telephones prescription orders to pharmacy, as needed.
  • Enters complete and accurate information into an electronic medical record.
  • Transcribes lab and other medical data into the EMR, as needed.
  • Performs phlebotomy and on-site laboratory tests.
  • Performs laboratory maintenance.
  • Performs special tests, i.e., audiometry, eye tests, pulmonary functions, and EKGs.
  • Inventory and order medical supplies, as needed.
  • Orients Medical Students and Residents to office protocol and procedures.
  • Trains new staff.
  • Pre-visit planning.
  • Assists practice manager in holding daily huddles.
  • Self-management.
  • Tracks all orders, labs, and referrals for the patient.
  • Administer CPR.
