About The Position

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Eligibility for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
  • Six months of nursing experience in a health care facility (such as a hospital, nursing home, medical clinic, prison, mental health facility, or closely related facilities).

Responsibilities

  • Participates in patient assessment as delegated by the registered nurse or provider by observing, collecting, recording, and reporting patient data/information and collaborates to promote effective patient care.
  • Implements orders from physician, physician assistant and/or advance practice nurse as delegated by the RN and/or physician and performs interventions as prescribed and documents accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Acts as group leader for ancillary nursing personnel, preparing assignments, guiding personnel in giving nursing care, holding group conferences, preparing nursing care plans; and participates in the training and education of residents, medical students and new employees.
  • Assists physician with clinical procedures, of which may also include scheduling procedures, test, surgeries, and hospital admissions and obtain appropriate insurance authorization.
  • Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patient’s changing conditions and needs.
  • Identifies recurring clinical practice and/or related unit problems and participates in problem solving and resolution.
  • Collaborates with other with other members of the health care team to identify, promote, and provide positive learning experiences and supports nursing and multidisciplinary research efforts for staff and students.
  • Takes responsibility for continued professional growth/development by identification of learning needs and initiates strategies to meet such needs.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
