The Certified Hemodialysis LPN administers direct patient care in the dialysis unit under the supervision of the RN Nursing Supervisor, Charge Nurse, RN Team Leader or Physician. This role involves performing assigned tasks independently and efficiently after instruction from designated medical personnel. The LPN is responsible for specific areas of the hemodialysis treatment, including the initiation of the dialysis treatment, preparation of safety equipment devices, and conducting focused nursing assessments that contribute to ongoing data collection and comprehensive assessment by the RN. The LPN will observe, record, and report patient signs and symptoms to the appropriate person, and provide health teaching to the patient and their caregiver.
