Licensed Practical Nurse - Clinic
About The Position
Provides care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within the scope of license. This role contributes to the assessment of patients and ensures their well-being. Responsibilities include administering medications, observing patients for adverse reactions, performing laboratory tests and therapeutic services, and educating patients/families about their disease treatment plan, including self-care, holistic health needs, available resources, and follow-up care. The role may involve documenting the provider's encounter with patients, listing diagnoses, symptoms, discharge/follow-up instructions, and prescriptions. Additionally, it may include transcribing patient orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications, and completing patient charts by transcribing results of evaluations. The position requires continuous checking of data availability for orders to ensure the provider can make treatment decisions. It may also involve transcribing consultations or discussions with family or physicians. The role demands working in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, and performing other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
- No experience required
- Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling and running.

Responsibilities
- Contributes to the assessment of patients and ensures the well-being of patients.

- May documents the provider's encounter with patients.
- Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as discharge/follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider.
- May transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.
- Completes patient's charts by transcribing results of any labs, x-rays, or other evaluations.
- Continuously checks the progress of data availability for orders, to ensure the patient's workup is complete so that the provider is able to make treatment decisions regarding that patient.
- May transcribes consultations or discussions with family and/or the patient's private physician or the on-call physician.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
