Provides care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within the scope of license. This role contributes to the assessment of patients and ensures their well-being. Responsibilities include administering medications, observing patients for adverse reactions, performing laboratory tests and therapeutic services, and educating patients/families about their disease treatment plan, including self-care post-discharge, holistic health needs, available resources, and follow-up care. The role may involve documenting the provider's encounter with patients, listing all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as discharge/follow-up instructions and prescriptions. Additionally, it may include transcribing patient orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications, and completing patient charts by transcribing results of evaluations. The position requires continuous checking of data availability for orders to ensure the patient's workup is complete for provider treatment decisions. It may also involve transcribing consultations or discussions with family and/or the patient's private physician or on-call physician. The role demands working in a constant state of alertness and safe manner, and performing other duties as assigned.
