This is a full-time position in an inpatient setting where the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is accountable for providing direct care to assigned patients. The role contributes to unit activities and supports the enhancement of the care delivery system. The LPN works as a team member, assisting other staff with patient care, and assumes responsibility for assigned patients under the direction of the co-assigned RN or MD. Responsibilities include participating in the plan of care, implementing nursing interventions, and contributing to patient/family education through data collection, interdisciplinary team collaboration, documentation, and communication. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team caring for a wide variety of patients including Stroke, Brain Injury, SCI, Trauma, Orthopedic, Neuro, Oncology, Pediatric, Solid Organ Transplant, Heart Failure, and other medically complex patients. The position provides training to offer clinical and emotional encouragement to patients and their families as they regain independence. It also offers opportunities to increase critical thinking through extensive orientation and continuous training, with clinical advancement and professional development available through unit council and other acute rehabilitation initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses teamwork, flexibility, enthusiasm, critical thinking, and a strong desire to help patients learn new skills, sharing in the satisfaction of patients and families regaining control of their lives after serious injury.
