About The Position

The Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (LPTA) is responsible for treating assigned patients, which includes obtaining accurate prescriptions, thoroughly reviewing charts, and documenting according to departmental policy. This PRN position operates on weekends and is part of a joint effort between Emory Healthcare and Houston Healthcare to enhance community health services.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Three (3) internships/affiliations satisfactorily completed.
  • Current PTA licensure by the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy.
  • Current AHA BLS certification.
  • Must obtain and maintain required ortho education/training as mandated in the Houston Healthcare Joint Destination Center of Excellence Policy.
  • Must obtain and maintain required stroke education/training as mandated in the Houston Healthcare Primary Stroke Center/Acute Stroke Ready Designation Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Treating assigned patients.
  • Obtaining accurate prescriptions.
  • Reviewing charts adequately.
  • Documenting according to departmental policy.
  • Utilizing a variety of therapy equipment including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, whirlpool, iontophoresis, TEN's units, paraffin bath, fluidotherapy, Biodex, biofeedback, traction, and exercise equipment.
