About The Position

This is a full-time Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA) position with a Weekend Plan at Texas Health Ft. Worth. The role supports the Physical Therapy department in an 815-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital that has served the Ft. Worth community since 1930. The hospital is a Level I trauma center and Comprehensive Stroke center with advanced programs in Total Hip, Total Knee, Spine Surgery, and a Geriatric Hip Fracture program, among others. Requirements

  • Must possess a current Texas LPTA license.
  • Must have current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience as an LPTA.
  • Must have experience in an acute care setting.
  • Must have experience with stroke, orthopedic, and/or neurological patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a Magnet-designated hospital.
  • Experience in a Level I trauma center.
  • Experience with advanced total hip and knee programs.
  • Experience with spine surgery and neurotrauma programs.

Responsibilities

  • Follow plan for care, or appropriate therapeutic intervention to achieve stated goals.
  • Performs treatment procedures/techniques that are within the scope of the professional license.
  • Documents all aspects of assessment and plan of care in accordance with departmental, TJC, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  • Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self-management and assistive equipment.
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs.
  • Participate in discharge planning for patient.
  • Attends hospital, department, and community meetings / educational in-services.
  • Strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.
