About The Position

Innovative Therapy Concepts (ITC) partners with Texas Orthopedics to manage all therapy operations and is searching for a Physical Therapist Assistant seeking to join an organization that seeks to “Elevate the Experience" as they encounter each patient. This career opportunity allows for a Physical Therapist Assistant to practice in the outpatient orthopedic setting with the opportunity to treat a variety of surgical and non-operative patients. Exposure to a diverse caseload treating upper and lower extremity as well as spine patients. The therapist will administer treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability under the supervision of an onsite Physical Therapist. Requirements

• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited PTA program
• Minimum of 2 years experience in Outpatient Orthopedics REQUIRED
• Must have an active and current Physical Therapist Assistant License that allows you to practice in the state in which you work.
• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Should have strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to educate patients about their condition, treatments, and to communicate with patients’ families.
• Should also be compassionate and possess a desire to help patients.

Responsibilities

• Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatments such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs.
• Administers traction to relieve neck and back pain.
• Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to learn and improve functional activities such as preambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities.
• Observes patients during treatments and compiles and evaluates data on patients' responses to treatments and progress and reports orally or in writing to Physical Therapist.
• Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
• Confers with members of physical therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
• Gives orientation to new Physical Therapist Assistants and directs and gives instructions to Physical Therapy Aides.
• Performs clerical duties such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.
• Measures patient's range-of-joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of specific treatments or to assist Physical Therapist to compile data for patient evaluations.
• Monitors treatments administered by Physical Therapy Aides.
