About The Position

The Licensed Optician delivers LensCrafters’ brand value proposition and helps establish the store as the premier destination for vision needs in the community. The role creates value for customers through exceptional service and high-quality, carefully crafted eyewear that exceeds expectations. The position involves fitting and adjusting eyewear, placing prescriptions in lenses, taking accurate measurements, supporting customers with complex product and prescription needs, and using technology and appropriate tools to ensure finished eyewear meets company standards and customer needs. The optician also contributes to store performance, appearance, safety, and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• State licensure.
• Optical dispensing experience.
• Strong customer service skills, including communication, listening, and team-building.
• Knowledge of current store merchandise.
• Strong basic math skills.
• Awareness of current fashion trends.
• Selling skills and ability to use and carry an iPad or tablet.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems, computers, and calculators.
• Willingness to embrace new technology and change.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and set expectations.
• Custom-fit glasses and precisely place prescriptions in lenses.
• Serve as a leader in optical knowledge and acumen.
• Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear accurately, and ensure finished eyewear meets standards and customer needs.
• Assist the team with complex product needs and prescriptions.
• Use technology accurately under time pressure and with high customer volume; apply product knowledge and appropriate tools.
• Identify root causes of customer issues, anticipate needs, and provide solutions to exceed customer expectations.
• Multi-task, prioritize, and manage competing priorities.
• Strive to achieve brand key performance indicators and competencies.
• Help keep the store clean, attractive, and organized.
• Inform management of safety opportunities and demonstrate safe work practices.
• Pursue continual learning, improvement, and results.
• Follow company policies and procedures, including those related to discounts, promotions, and inventory management.
