About The Position

Warby Parker is seeking a skilled Optical Manager to join their in-house Optical team. This role involves creating exceptional customer experiences using professional skills and product knowledge. The manager will act as a coach and team player, leading the store's Opticians and assisting customers directly. The ideal candidate is a continuous learner, adaptable to challenges, fosters a positive work environment, and contributes to Warby Parker's growth.

Requirements

  • A licensed dispensing optician in states that require a license (or an ABO-certified optician in non-licensing states)
  • 2+ years of experience in a management position
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, exhibiting model behavior, driving optical metrics, and adhering to strict optical standards
  • Ability to operate with a high sense of professionalism and open-mindedness when making decisions
  • Clear and effective communication skills, able to break down technical terms for customers
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of prioritizing tasks and responsibilities for self and team in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
  • Not on the Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers to help meet all of their eyewear needs
  • Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear, and execute these details with flawless accuracy
  • Check that finished eyewear meets optical standards, customer requirements, and requests
  • Explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers
  • Manage a team of Opticians by giving and receiving feedback, holding ongoing development conversations, and leading by example
  • Uphold exceptional service standards and implement retail experience programs to increase customer loyalty and engagement
  • Report to the Store Leader, collaborating to anticipate staffing needs and oversee Optician Apprentice Program participants
  • Stay up to date with HR policies and procedures to promote a productive, safe culture and leverage company resources to increase employee engagement and job satisfaction
  • Support general store systems, inventory databases, and business operations
