The Full-Time Occupational Therapist Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Occupational Therapist in administering occupational therapy program in hospital, related facility, or community setting for physically, developmentally, mentally disabled, or emotionally disabled clients. Monitors and communicates patient's progress and modifies treatment plans as directed by the managing occupational therapist. Ensures and provides development, quality improvement, problem-solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary manner.

Responsibilities

  • Observes occupational therapy patients, and reports information and observations to supervisor.
  • Follows guidelines and carries out general activity program for individuals or groups.
  • Assists in evaluation of clients' daily living skills and capacities to determine extent of abilities and limitations.
  • Assists in planning and implementing educational, vocational, and recreational programs and activities established by registered Occupational Therapist, designed to restore, reinforce, and enhance task performances, diminish or correct pathology, and to promote and maintain health and self-sufficiency.
  • Designs and adapts equipment and working-living environment.
  • Fabricates splints and other assistant devices.
  • Assists in instructing patient and family in home programs as well as care and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Prepares work materials, assists in maintenance of equipment, and orders supplies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
