About The Position

Join Cottage Hospital's Medical Surgical team, where you'll provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients with a wide variety of medical needs, including post-surgical recovery, joint replacements, acute illnesses, and critical care. As a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA), you'll play an essential role in supporting our nursing team while helping patients feel safe, comfortable, and cared for throughout their hospital stay. At Cottage Hospital, you'll work alongside experienced healthcare professionals in a collaborative, patient-centered environment where every team member is valued and every interaction makes a difference. The Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) provides supportive, compassionate care to patients while assisting nurses in the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position helps maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients and may also assist with Unit Secretary responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Current New Hampshire Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) license required.
  • Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, mobility, and AM/PM care.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, patient observations, and other assigned clinical information.
  • Provide special observation monitoring as assigned.
  • Promptly communicate changes in patient condition or concerns to the appropriate members of the healthcare team.
  • Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Escort patients safely to the hospital exit upon discharge.
  • Transport patients throughout the hospital for tests, procedures, and treatments.
  • Stock patient rooms with required supplies each shift.
  • Monitor and replace equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Check and replace sharps containers when necessary.
  • Participate in assigned unit safety rounds.
  • Notify appropriate departments when supply levels need replenishment.
  • Maintain clean, organized patient care areas, utility rooms, equipment, and furniture to support a therapeutic healing environment.
  • Work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Respond appropriately during emergency situations according to established procedures.
  • Float to other units as needed to support patient care.
  • Assist with Unit Secretary duties when assigned.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as needed to support department operations.
