About The Position

Under supervision, this role provides behavioral health screening, psychoeducation, and skills-based interventions for detainees at the Winnebago County Juvenile Detention Center. The professional will assist custody and medical staff in monitoring behavioral health, coordinating treatment for detainees with behavioral health concerns, and supporting the therapeutic needs of segregated and isolated detainees. This position also supports county behavioral health services for at-risk detainees and coordinates with them for continuity of care and discharge planning. Documentation and record-keeping for referral tracking and quality improvement are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a Behavioral/Social Science field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, etc.) required.
  • Current licensure with clinical specialty from the appropriate state licensing board preferred.
  • CPR certification must be obtained prior to hire and maintained while in this role.
  • Hands-on or online certifications are accepted.
  • Must be able to practice independently.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide behavioral health screening of detainees referred by facility staff or identified by prescreening.
  • Provide individual and/or group psychoeducation and skills-based interventions.
  • Assist custody and medical staff in the monitoring of behavioral health for referred detainees.
  • Coordinate with custody and medical staff in the management and treatment of detainees with behavioral health concerns.
  • Monitor and assess therapeutic support of segregated and isolated detainees.
  • Support and supplement the activities of county behavioral health services in the stabilization of at-risk detainees.
  • Coordinate with county behavioral health services for continuity of care and discharge planning/case management.
  • Complete documentation and maintain records for referral tracking and continuous quality improvement (CQI) under supervision.
  • Demonstrate commitment and dedication to providing behavioral health support.
  • Provide training to solve problems and make lives easier.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
