About The Position

The Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) provides a full spectrum of psychological and comprehensive clinical services to offenders at Scotland Correctional Institution. Work involves applying theory in the diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders, providing individual and group counseling to offenders and serving as a liaison between correctional staff and offenders.

Requirements

Master's degree in psychology, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical counseling or human services related field from an appropriately accredited educational institution.
Must hold an independent license to practice as a mental health clinical practitioner in North Carolina or have met the requirements to be licensed in North Carolina at the associate or provisional level as a mental health clinical practitioner.

Documented knowledge of psychological, emotional and interpersonal dynamics that contribute to distress and mental health diagnosis.
Demonstrated experience to evaluate, screen and diagnose clients for appropriate treatment; formulate clear goal-oriented treatment plans, and document progress of client treatment.
