About The Position
Under supervision, this role involves providing behavioral health screening of detainees, individual and/or group psychoeducation and skills-based interventions. The professional will assist custody and medical staff in monitoring behavioral health, coordinate management and treatment of detainees with behavioral health concerns, and monitor/assess therapeutic support for segregated and isolated detainees. This position also supports county behavioral health services for at-risk detainees and coordinates for continuity of care and discharge planning. Documentation and record-keeping for referral tracking and CQI are essential. The role requires a commitment to providing behavioral health support and training to solve problems and improve lives.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in a Behavioral/Social Science field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, etc.) required.
- Current licensure with clinical specialty from the appropriate state licensing board preferred.
- CPR certification must be obtained prior to hire and maintained while in this role.
- Hands-on or online certifications are accepted.
- Must be able to practice independently.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Provide behavioral health screening of detainees referred by facility staff or identified by prescreening through booking process or nursing services.
- Provide individual and/or group psychoeducation and skills-based interventions.
- Assist custody and medical staff in the monitoring of behavioral health for referred detainees.
- Coordinate with custody and medical staff in the management and treatment of detainees with behavioral health concerns.
- Monitor and assess therapeutic support of segregated and isolated detainees.
- Support and supplement the activities of county behavioral health services in the stabilization of at-risk detainees.
- Coordinate with county behavioral health services for continuity of care and discharge planning/case management via sharing of pertinent patient information.
- Complete documentation as well as maintain records for referral tracking and continuous quality improvement (CQI) under supervision.
- Demonstrate commitment and dedication to providing behavioral health support and provide training to solve problems and make lives easier.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
