About The Position

TK Health is a correctional healthcare provider seeking a Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join their team in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This role involves providing patient care within the Brown County Jail, focusing on the mental health needs of incarcerated individuals. The position offers an opportunity to utilize clinical skills in a unique and secure environment, contributing to the day-to-day healthcare operations of the facility. The counselor will be responsible for assessing, evaluating, and coordinating mental health care, including crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and the development of individualized treatment and release plans. Collaboration with facility staff, medical teams, and community agencies is essential to ensure a continuum of care for inmates.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in social work, clinical psychology, psychiatric nursing, or related field; OR any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Licensed as a Social Worker, Marriage/Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Professional Counselor required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, evaluate, and coordinate mental health care for incarcerated individuals.
  • Formulate individualized release plans to coordinate a continuum of care.
  • Assess psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention to emotionally distressed and mentally ill inmates.
  • Conduct evaluations of inmates for suicide intervention and prevention.
  • Coordinate inmate care with Facility and medical staff to ensure inmates' special needs are addressed.
  • Provide MAT/substance abuse counseling.
  • Develop Individualized Treatment Plans for psychiatric inmates requiring intensive behavior management.
  • Complete referrals to Provider for medication management services.
  • Promote linkages with community mental health agencies, other support services, and families for inmate care and coordination for continuum of care, including discharge planning.
  • Collaborate with community health providers for inmates who are enrolled clients.
  • Complete inmate need assessments and develop individualized release plans for inmates suffering from mental illness to connect inmates with appropriate services in the community.
  • Maintain the safety and security of staff and inmates when making clinical decisions regarding inmates.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities for off-hours MHP coverage.
  • Provide mental health training for jail staff as needed.
  • Complete other job duties as assigned.
