About The Position

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals working toward recovery at Quinault Wellness Center, where compassionate behavioral healthcare, substance use disorder treatment, and community connection come together. We are seeking a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or qualified Licensed Social Worker to join our integrated behavioral health team. This position provides direct clinical services to individuals diagnosed with Substance Use Disorder (SUD), including people experiencing co-occurring mental health conditions, trauma, and other behavioral or psychosocial challenges. You will have the opportunity to build genuine therapeutic relationships and support patients through assessment, counseling, treatment planning, crisis intervention, recovery support, and care coordination. Working alongside SUD Professionals, medical providers, nurses, and other members of a multidisciplinary team, you will help patients engage in treatment, strengthen coping and recovery skills, and work toward their individual goals.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or another applicable mental health discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Current Washington State credential appropriate to the position and assigned clinical duties, such as LMHC, LMHCA, LMFT, LMFTA, or applicable Washington State social work credential.
  • Minimum of one year of experience providing mental health or behavioral health services.
  • Knowledge of Substance Use Disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, behavioral health assessment, evidence-based counseling, and recovery-oriented treatment.
  • Ability to provide individual, family, and group counseling and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and the relationship between substance use, mental health, trauma, family systems, and social determinants of health.
  • Ability to recognize behavioral health crises, assess risk, provide appropriate intervention, and coordinate referrals or higher levels of care when needed.
  • Ability to establish trusting, therapeutic relationships with individuals experiencing substance use and mental health challenges while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Ability to provide respectful, culturally responsive care in a cross-cultural environment and recognize the social, cultural, and historical factors that may influence recovery.
  • Strong clinical documentation, organization, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with SUD Professionals, medical providers, nursing staff, behavioral health professionals, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of applicable confidentiality requirements, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, as well as Washington State requirements.
  • Proficiency with computers, electronic health records, standard office software, and clinical documentation systems.
  • Current professional registration/licensure in good standing with the State of Washington.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to be insured through the organization.
  • Ability to maintain all required licenses, certifications, and credentials throughout employment.
  • Ability to complete required organizational, regulatory, and position-specific training within established timeframes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an outpatient SUD treatment program, OTP, MAT setting, or integrated behavioral health environment.
  • Experience working with individuals receiving methadone, buprenorphine, or other medications for treatment of SUD.
  • Experience with trauma, co-occurring disorders, crisis intervention, relapse prevention, or complex psychosocial needs.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, including Spanish, are desirable.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, nonjudgmental, recovery-oriented care to individuals and families.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral health intake assessments, clinical interviews, and diagnostic evaluations, with particular focus on individuals diagnosed with SUD and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Assess mental health symptoms, substance use history, psychosocial functioning, trauma-related concerns, family and environmental factors, and barriers that may affect treatment and recovery.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized, recovery-oriented treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling using evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches.
  • Incorporate recovery skills, emotional regulation, coping strategies, relapse prevention, healthy relationships, trauma recovery, and behavioral strategies into treatment.
  • Provide psychoeducation to patients and, when appropriate and authorized, families regarding mental health, substance use disorders, treatment options, recovery strategies, and available resources.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment approaches based on clinical findings and changing patient needs.
  • Support patient engagement, treatment retention, continuity of care, and sustained recovery.
  • Collaborate with SUD Professionals, medical providers, nursing staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to integrate behavioral health services into the patient's overall SUD treatment plan.
  • Coordinate behavioral health services with OTP and MAT treatment, including services involving methadone, buprenorphine, and other medications for the treatment of SUD, as applicable.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case consultations and treatment planning discussions.
  • Connect patients with behavioral health services, psychiatric care, social services, recovery resources, community programs, and other appropriate providers.
  • Support patients during transitions between treatment services and levels of care.
  • Conduct behavioral health risk assessments and respond appropriately to suicide risk, self-harm, harm to others, acute psychiatric symptoms, and other safety concerns.
  • Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, clinical support, and appropriate triage in accordance with organizational procedures.
  • Develop individualized crisis and safety plans when clinically indicated.
  • Coordinate emergency referrals, crisis services, or higher levels of care when necessary.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation, including assessments, diagnostic evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, crisis plans, and discharge or transition documentation.
  • Maintain documentation that supports patient care, medical necessity, treatment goals, clinical decision-making, and applicable billing requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with professional standards, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, applicable regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in clinical record reviews, quality assurance, and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Build trusting, therapeutic relationships that promote patient engagement and continuity of care.
  • Provide respectful, nonjudgmental, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed services that recognize each patient's individual experiences, strengths, and recovery goals.
  • Support patient self-determination and informed participation in treatment.
  • Communicate relevant clinical information with members of the treatment team while protecting patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and ethical standards.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and participate in required orientation, training, and cross-training.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position's qualifications, credentials, and scope of practice.
