About The Position

We are seeking a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with hands-on experience designing HVAC, mechanical, and MEP building systems. This is a technical engineering role focused on design, documentation, coordination, and construction support for healthcare, veterinary, commercial, municipal, and other building projects. The ideal candidate is an experienced Mechanical Engineer who can independently develop and review engineering designs, provide PE-level technical oversight, and collaborate closely with architects and other engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of professional engineering experience required; 10+ years preferred.
• Hands-on HVAC, mechanical, or MEP engineering/design experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with commercial, healthcare, institutional, veterinary, municipal, or similar building projects preferred.
• Strong understanding of HVAC and building systems, engineering calculations, construction documents, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Ability to independently develop, review, and take technical responsibility for engineering designs.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
• Candidates must have direct engineering and design experience; candidates with primarily project management experience will not be considered.

• 10+ years of professional engineering experience preferred.

• Experience with commercial, healthcare, institutional, veterinary, municipal, or similar building projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC, mechanical, and related MEP systems for commercial and institutional building projects.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, equipment selections, and construction documents.
• Provide technical oversight and professional engineering judgment throughout design and construction.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, engineering standards, and project requirements.
• Coordinate mechanical and MEP systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and other project disciplines.
• Review RFIs, submittments, shop drawings, and other technical documentation during construction.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions, verify construction, and resolve field-related engineering issues.
• Identify design and constructability challenges and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Support projects through inspections, punch lists, commissioning coordination, and final closeout.
• Take technical ownership of assigned engineering work from initial design through construction administration.
