About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) with expertise in HVAC and MEP system design for commercial and institutional buildings. This is a hands-on engineering position focused on the design, analysis, and documentation of mechanical systems—not project management. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical building system design and will serve as the Engineer of Record, leading projects from concept through construction while collaborating with architects, engineers, and construction teams. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of healthcare, commercial, municipal, institutional, veterinary, and other specialized facilities.

Requirements

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience; 10+ years preferred.
• Strong experience designing HVAC and MEP systems for commercial buildings.
• Proficiency in engineering calculations, HVAC load analysis, equipment selection, and construction documentation.
• Strong knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
• Ability to independently develop, review, and seal engineering designs.
• Excellent technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams.
• Hands-on mechanical design experience is required.
• Candidates whose background is primarily project management without significant engineering design responsibilities will not be considered.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with healthcare, municipal, institutional, veterinary, or similarly complex facilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and mechanical building systems for commercial and institutional projects.
• Perform engineering calculations, HVAC load analyses, and equipment selection.
• Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Serve as the Engineer of Record, providing technical oversight throughout the design process.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and other engineering disciplines.
• Review RFIs, submittments, shop drawings, and other construction-phase documentation.
• Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction observations as required.
• Resolve design and constructability challenges by developing practical engineering solutions.
• Support commissioning, inspections, punch-list activities, and project closeout.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
• Maintain a high level of technical accuracy and quality throughout all phases of project delivery.
