About The Position

Join a Team that keeps the city moving! Codiac Transpo is a vital part of our community, providing safe, reliable, and sustainable transportation to thousands or riders daily. We’re seeking skilled and dedicated Licensed Mechanics to help maintain our growing fleet of transit vehicles. This position plays a key role in keeping Codiac Transpo’s transit system running smoothly by inspecting, maintaining, and repairing urban transit buses and related equipment. The role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring vehicles meet safety and performance standards. It’s a hands-on role suited for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, enjoys solving complex mechanical challenges, and values contributing to a reliable and sustainable public transit system.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalency.
  • Must have a Certificate of Qualification in Truck & Transport (T&T) Mechanic issued by the New Brunswick Department of Labour, or Red Seal equivalent.
  • English essential.
  • Must be able to write neat, accurate and concise reports.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the New Brunswick Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Must be certified in Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) within the probationary period.
  • Basic computer knowledge is a requirement.
  • Will be required to learn to input and manipulate data on the Fleet Maintenance System.
  • Diagnostic analysis of vehicles, engines, and equipment is required.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a mechanic on diesel powered buses and related equipment and/or vehicles is an asset.
  • Training and experience in troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing highway or city buses would be a definite asset.
  • Experience rebuilding Diesel engines, fully and partial, preferably with Cummins.
  • Welding experience will be considered an asset.
  • Experience working on differentials, drivelines, electrical, air conditioning, HVAC, etc… is an asset.
  • The ability to communicate in French is an asset.
