About The Position

The County of Lambton is seeking a Licensed Mechanic to maintain and repair all equipment within the department. This role involves performing service work on other department vehicles and equipment, ensuring efficient operation through mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs. The position also includes supervising equipment operators on regular servicing and maintenance, performing field repairs when necessary, assisting with welding and fabrication, and conducting regular safety checks of County vehicles. The incumbent must stay updated on relevant legislation, agreements, and policies, and possess the physical ability to perform the job duties.

Requirements

• Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or a combination of education and experience required to perform the duties of the position
• Current valid Province of Ontario Driver's license minimum class DZ
• 310T Truck and Coach Technician
• 310S Automotive Service Technician
• Prior experience as a licensed mechanic performing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, welding and fabrication repairs of a variety of vehicles and equipment
• A valid Ontario driver’s license and use of a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and any other repairs required to ensure the efficient operation of all equipment
• Carry out and give supervision to the equipment operators concerning regular servicing and maintenance
• When required, attend to stranded equipment, to carry out field repairs
• Assist in other duties as required within the garage, including welding, fabricating, etc.
• Perform safety checks of County vehicles on a regular basis
• Orders parts as required to maintain vehicle maintenance
• Keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
• Possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis
