(AMT), an employee-owned engineering consulting firm, is seeking a motivated Virginia Licensed Surveyor (LS) to join their growing Survey practice in Richmond or Northern Virginia. Requirements

  • Virginia Licensed Surveyor (LS).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive surveying experience.
  • Experience performing and managing Topographic Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Right-of-Way Surveys, and Utility Surveys.
  • Experience preparing surveys in accordance with VDOT Survey Standards and VDOT CAD Standards.
  • Experience supporting transportation and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and client service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Leadership experience or a demonstrated desire to grow into a leadership role.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience supporting roadway, bridge, utility, and transportation design projects.
  • Experience coordinating survey activities with engineering design teams.
  • Interest in business development and future management responsibilities.
  • Experience mentoring survey staff and developing future leaders.
  • Survey professionals who have recently obtained their Virginia Licensed Surveyor credential are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Manage survey projects from proposal development through final project delivery.
  • Supervise and mentor survey field crews, office technicians, and project staff.
  • Coordinate project staffing, scheduling, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Conduct project kickoff meetings with clients, project managers, and engineering teams.
  • Establish project work plans, survey procedures, and quality standards.
  • Oversee the performance of Topographic Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Right-of-Way Surveys, and Utility Surveys
  • Ensure compliance with applicable VDOT Survey Standards and VDOT CAD Standards.
  • Review field data, survey computations, mapping, and deliverables for quality assurance and quality control.
  • Coordinate briefing and debriefing activities with field crews.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, invoicing, and financial performance.
  • Prepare project scopes, proposals, and fee estimates.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with transportation and infrastructure engineering teams.
  • Identify and resolve technical, operational, and project challenges.
  • Support the continued growth and success of AMT's Survey practice.
