About The Position

Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) is seeking a Licensed Group Home Department Manager for its Developmental Services Residential Division in St. Johnsbury & Derby, Vermont. This full-time role involves providing leadership, operational oversight, and administrative management for Licensed Group Homes serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The manager will report to the DS Residential Division Director and work closely with Residential Managers, nursing staff, agency leadership, and community partners to ensure high-quality, person-centered services, regulatory compliance, staff development, and positive outcomes. This position is crucial for maintaining high standards of care, supporting program growth, and driving operational excellence across multiple residential sites.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or long-term residential care.
  • Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professional (QDDP) designation required or ability to obtain designation within three (3) months of hire.
  • Prior leadership and/or supervisory experience required.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively oversee multiple residential locations and diverse teams.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel between program locations as needed.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required agency background checks.

  • Experience managing residential programs serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Knowledge of Medicaid-funded developmental services and residential supports.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to Residential Managers and assigned staff.
  • Collaborate with Residential Managers, nursing staff, and agency leadership to ensure compliance with state regulations, licensing requirements, and agency policies.
  • Support ongoing operation and maintenance of Licensed Group Homes to ensure safe, healthy, and supportive living environments.
  • Assist with program planning, policy implementation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, staff development, and performance management activities.
  • Support management of program budgets, residential resources, and individual funding allocations.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, accountability, employee engagement, and quality care.
  • Provide leadership and support during crisis situations and assist managers with prevention and response strategies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of required documentation, reports, and clinical records.
  • Support ongoing training and professional development for Residential Managers, Team Leaders, and direct support staff.
  • Monitor program performance, regulatory compliance, utilization management, and consumer satisfaction outcomes.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with families, guardians, service providers, state agencies, and community partners.
  • Utilize program data to identify opportunities for service improvement, operational effectiveness, compliance, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Advocate for resources and supports needed to enhance services and improve outcomes for individuals served.
  • Serve as a leader and role model within Developmental Services and the broader NKHS community.
