About The Position

This role involves applying comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex electrical problems, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and controls, and performing installations. The position requires maintaining electrical equipment through a preventive maintenance program, including weekly and monthly inspections and record keeping. Responsibilities also include making recommendations for system improvements, assisting in training electricians and trainees, installing electrical outlets and lighting circuits, and performing general maintenance on various equipment including HVAC and kitchen appliances. The job entails performing PMs, troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, and installations on industrial and commercial electrical systems up to 600 VAC and control systems up to 50 VDC. It also involves working with galvanized conduit and pipe systems. The role requires troubleshooting and repairing complex electronic and DDC control issues, and designing, laying out, and installing new electrical equipment and systems with minimal supervision. Additionally, the position requires adherence to safety practices, company policies, and accurate administrative duties such as work order completion and time accounting. Maintaining positive customer and employee relations is also essential.

Requirements

  • High school plus technical/vocational school training.
  • Minimum Five (5) years experience as journeyman electrician, or equivalent, having performed work on industrial and commercial electrical equipment and systems.
  • License is required.
  • Experience with UPS systems, Generators, CRAC units and server rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment and controls to determine problems and perform necessary repairs.
  • Maintain electrical equipment on an ongoing basis as part of TMS’s Preventive Maintenance program, including weekly and monthly inspections and record keeping.
  • Make recommendations for the improvement of the operation of existing electrical systems and design/layouts for future electrical systems.
  • Assist in the on the job training of electricians and trainees.
  • Install electrical outlets and additional lighting circuits as required.
  • Repair and maintain kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, fryers and food serving equipment, plus perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery including HVAC equipment, air compressors and dryers as required. Also light plumbing.
  • Perform PM’s, troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments and installations to industrial and commercial electrical systems, including electrical components of mechanical systems, for systems up to and including 600 VAC, and for control systems up to 50 VDC.
  • Perform cutting, threading and assembly of galvanized conduit and pipe and conduit systems up to 3’ in size.
  • Service motors, motor starters, and industrial control systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned such as shoveling snow, assisting other tradesmen and emergency repairs.
  • Be on a rotating stand by schedule with other electricians and mechanics for emergency coverage.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electronic, and DDC control issues.
  • Design, layout and install new electrical equipment and systems with minimum supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with all company / customer regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Utilize all safety practices appropriate to the work being done, attend and participate in safety meetings and training, observe and report safety violations, and use fall protection equipment and work on elevated areas.
  • Submit work orders with time, comments, and signature on day work is completed.
  • Fill out purchase requisitions for all purchases.
  • Perform work requested in time allotted.
  • Communicate the completion of the work to Planner / Scheduler and / or Supervisor.
  • Achieve performance expectations set forth as part of performance appraisals to include employee development planning.
  • Communicate with all team members to support the development of short and long range planning in support of the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Perform assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Complete accurate and timely administrative duties to include, but not limited to, time accounting and work order completion.
  • Maintain positive customer and employee relations.
