About The Position

The Dental Specialists Plymouth West Endodontics is currently seeking a professional, team-oriented Licensed Dental Assistant candidate. As a Dental Assistant, you will assist the Doctor in providing quality dental treatment and education to patients.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required
  • A current Minnesota Dental Assistant License
  • Certified to administer local anesthesia in Minnesota and nitrous oxide analgesia
  • An up-to-date and organized Professional Portfolio summarizing written documentation of professional development activities
  • Current CPR certification obtained through the American Heart Association health care provider course, the American Red Cross professional rescuer course, or an equivalent course.
  • Knowledge of dental information and techniques necessary to assess oral conditions and treat periodontal disease including symptoms, treatment alternatives, and preventative measures
  • Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing dental and patient services including patient needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of patient satisfaction
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, striving for collaboration, and demonstrating professionalism
  • Possess effective written and oral communication skills
  • Possess critical thinking, logic, and reasoning skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality patient service by delivering thorough patient care, effective communication, and personal attention in a gentle and caring manner and plan appropriate dental hygiene care including prophylaxis, scaling and root planning, debridement, and periodontal maintenance
  • Complete dental hygiene procedures utilizing hand and mechanical scalers with a high degree of technical skill
  • Conduct a general oral health screening for each patient and communicate findings to the Doctor
  • Provide local anesthetic and nitrous oxide to patients under general supervision by the Doctor
  • Expose appropriate quality radiographs and develop, mount, and label properly
  • Provide accurate and concise patient record charting and complete database information to allow the Doctor to determine the appropriate treatment plan for the patient
  • Maintain a clean work environment and dental equipment to meet OSHA and Center for Disease Control sterilization and infection control regulatory standards
