Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Active LCSW or LICSW licensure in the state of Washington in good standing
  • Knowledge of IDEA, the IEP process, and the educational model of mental health services
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, individual therapy, crisis intervention, and case management

Nice To Haves

  • 1 or more years of school-based social work or school mental health experience
  • Experience with trauma-informed care frameworks and evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing
  • Familiarity with RTI/MTSS and universal design for learning frameworks
  • Experience serving students with autism, emotional/behavioral disabilities, or complex trauma histories
  • Bilingual Spanish/English

Responsibilities

  • Deliver school-based mental health services to students K-12 whose social-emotional and behavioral challenges affect their ability to access education.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students with identified mental health, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Deliver services aligned to IEP goals and school-based mental health plans using evidence-based frameworks including CBT, DBT-informed approaches, trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and contribute to eligibility determinations as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed, including safety planning.
  • Support Tier 1, 2, and 3 intervention frameworks within the school's MTSS structure.
  • Develop individualized IEP goals targeting social-emotional skills, behavioral regulation, and functional access to education.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, 504 reviews, and student support team meetings.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation including session notes, progress toward IEP goals, and assessment reports in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA, supported by Thrive's AI documentation tools.
  • Conduct re-evaluations in accordance with IDEA timelines.
  • Partner with special education teachers, school psychologists, SLPs, OTs, PTs, administrators, and families to coordinate student-centered care.
  • Communicate regularly with families around student progress, escalating needs, and community referrals.
  • Connect students and families to community mental health and social services resources when indicated.
  • Serve as a resource to school staff on mental health, trauma, and behavioral supports.
