About The Position

This position involves providing comprehensive clinical social work services within a medical treatment facility. The role requires conducting psychosocial assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions to a diverse patient population. Responsibilities include referral coordination, consultative support to interdisciplinary staff, and active participation in team operations. The work involves applying knowledge of medical and mental health conditions, utilizing various treatment modalities, and providing professional counseling and psychotherapy.

Requirements

  • A Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of one year within the past three years in evaluating and treating patients with pain and psychological factors influencing their physical conditions or coping with medical challenges.
  • At least 12 months of direct experience in the last 24 months involving computer operations, basic word processing, data entry, and the use of electronic medical records.
  • Possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted LCSW license from any state.
  • Must have and maintain a current AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification, with the expectation to obtain it prior to the start date if not already certified.
  • Capability to successfully pass a government background check and achieve requisite security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate appropriate referrals to community resources and governmental agencies to optimize patient services.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients and their families, analyzing psychosocial functioning, needs, strengths, weaknesses, coping mechanisms, and required assistance. Collaborate closely with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to formulate and implement targeted treatment plans.
  • Carry out psychosocial assessments and deliver treatment to a broad spectrum of individuals across varying socio-economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
  • Utilize knowledge of medical and mental health conditions, including acute, chronic, and traumatic illnesses, medications and their pharmacokinetics, and relevant medical terminology.
  • Employ a range of treatment modalities tailored to individuals, families, and groups facing psychiatric, medical, and social challenges, striving to meet established treatment objectives.
  • Provide professional counseling and psychotherapy services to individuals, groups, couples, and families, ensuring practice within the limitations of licensure.
  • Offer consultation to interdisciplinary staff regarding the psychosocial dimensions of patient care and the implications of psychosocial issues on health outcomes and treatment adherence.
  • Participate in professional peer review case conferences, research initiatives, and other organizational roles mandated by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
  • Engage in the clinic’s interdisciplinary framework, which includes activities like scheduling coordination, email communications, facilitating warm hand-offs, and participating in team huddles.
