About The Position

We are seeking a professional, detail-oriented, compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (PCBH) to provide counseling services at the Military Medical Center (MOMMC), 99th Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. This contract position is with Koi, a diverse Florida-based service and consulting company with over 20 years of experience. The contractor will provide general support for medical operations, with the primary mission of maintaining medical readiness for worldwide contingencies by delivering quality, cost-effective healthcare. Clinical social workers are required to function as full-time equivalent providers in a patient-centered medical home (PCMH) location as Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs). This role aligns with DoDI 6490.15 and DHA-PM 6025.01, focusing on the integration of behavioral health personnel services into primary care settings.

Requirements

  • Must hold a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree from a graduate school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  • Must have one year of experience within the last three years in the evaluation and treatment of patients with pain, psychological factors affecting their physical condition, or difficulty coping with medical problems.
  • Must have at least 12 months of direct hands-on experience in the last 24 months with computer operations, basic word processing, data entry, and use of an automated medical record system.
  • Maintain a current, unrestricted clinical license to independently practice social work in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in and successfully completes BHC training.
  • Demonstrates core competency skills to BHC independent practice within 90 days of starting (training may be extended if DHA is unable to provide opportunities).
  • Achieves a 100% pass rate in BHC training (minimum of a “3” rating in each competency area of the clinical competency tool).
  • Provides brief cognitive/behavioral interventions in primary care, with appointments typically lasting 15-30 minutes.
  • May provide classes in formats appropriate for primary care (e.g., stress management, sleep enhancement, chronic pain). Group appointments may be 60 or 90 minutes.
  • Works independently in the absence of direct oversight.
  • Effectively uses appropriate communication formats to address and resolve professional issues.
  • Possesses skills to communicate tactfully with patients who may be physically or mentally ill, uncooperative, fearful, emotionally distraught, and occasionally dangerous.
  • Possesses organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families/caregivers, and medical/non-medical staff professionally and courteously.
  • Successfully consults with PCMs on demand regarding general issues and specific patients.
  • Ensures PCMs receive same-day verbal and/or written feedback on referred patients.
  • Delivers brief presentations/trainings to primary care team members on behavioral health issues and BHC services.
  • Participates in team efforts to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise clinical pathway programs.
  • Provides concise documentation of care and recommendations in the patient’s electronic medical record within the timeframe defined by the DHA.
  • Effectively manages a full daily patient load, completing approximately 8-10 patient encounters per day as defined by DHA-PI 6025.27l.
  • May provide guidance, consultation, and clinical support to providers in training or not fully licensed.
  • May participate in DoW or DHA-approved research projects related to Primary Care Behavioral Health.
  • Consults with medical personnel, legal authorities, and military commanders as required.
  • Participates in military-specific training (e.g., pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, combat stress).
  • Attends and participates in meetings during normal duty hours and professional staff conferences, including quality improvement meetings, professional staff meetings, commander's staff meetings, and primary care staff meetings, as required by regulations, MTF guidance, or supervisor direction.
  • Abides by medical staff bylaws upon acceptance of privileges.
