About The Position

The SUD Program Counselor delivers substance use services to individuals with substance use disorders and provides guidance, case management, referrals, and communication with community partners. The role supports evidence-based interventions and treatment, contract compliance, positive client outcomes, and expected productivity. The counselor works with clients referred by TDCJ and community partners, including CPS, probation, and parole.

The counselor facilitates individual and group counseling, conducts evaluations and comprehensive substance use disorder assessments, and collaborates with community partners to support continuity of care. The role also involves clinically sound documentation, client engagement, quality improvement measures, quarterly file self-audits, regular supervision, and occasional crisis intervention for clients experiencing acute behavioral or substance use challenges.

Requirements

• Hold a valid and current Texas Driver's License.
• Hold a valid and current Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) credential in Texas.

Responsibilities
