About The Position

Morgan Construction Management (MCM) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Licensed Architect with extensive knowledge in large scale architecture and construction projects to work with our client's team in Philadelphia. The ideal candidate must be a Registered Architect with a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a NAAB-accredited college or university and experience in the building and facilities construction industry. Primarily, this position will involve projects at existing buildings, new construction and associated support facilities. Typical projects include interior modernizations, improvements, major renovations and new construction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from a NAAB accredited institution.
  • Architectural license in Pennsylvania.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of professional design experience in educational and commercial buildings and facilities, construction and assessment.
  • Knowledge of Building Codes (City of Philadelphia, IBC) and material codes (AISC, ACI)
  • Experience with Building Permit Process in the City of Philadelphia.
  • Knowledge of Revit, Rhino and AutoCAD for technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of materials, and envelope systems, interior finishes and space programming.
  • Ability to generate and issue RFPs to 3rd party design firms.
  • Knowledge of building and remodeling processes.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
  • Experience with the Building Permit process in the City of Philadelphia.
  • Ability to write technical documents for those experienced in the construction industry as well as to communicate technical concepts to professionals and decision makers outside of the industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Adobe Suite and Sketch-up.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and advertise RFPs for the selection of 3rd party design firms.
  • Review and approval proposals from 3rd party design firms.
  • Manage contracts and approve invoices of design firms.
  • Generate scope determination reports for Capital Improvement Projects to include surveys of building envelope systems, conceptual designs, building assessments and inspections.
  • Technical review and approval of design development plans and construction documents.
  • Prepare bid specifications and IFBs and provide design support to the Capital Improvement Project Team during bid and construction phases.
  • Contribute to the evaluation, restoration, repair design, and preservation of existing historic buildings, construction materials, and building systems.
  • Engage with the Philadelphia L&I department and other external agencies.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure constructability of building systems.
  • Work with other internal departments (Environmental, Construction, Facilities & Maintenance and Space Planning).
  • Perform related work as required.
  • Support development of long-range facilities plans and capital investment strategies.
  • Assist in evaluating consultant and contractor performance.
  • Participate in special initiatives related to facilities planning, funding, and capital program governance.
  • Respond to inquiries from our client's staff, building staff, facilities and community stakeholders regarding capital projects.
