About The Position

The Adjunctive Therapist is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and conducting therapy programs. This role involves instructing or supervising patients in recreational activities as part of a therapeutic psychiatric treatment program. This position will work four 10-hour days.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Fitness, Art, or related field
  • Licensed CRTS/ART therapy/Dance therapy/Music Therapy/Occupational Therapy is required
  • All direct patient care staff will be trained in BLS (CPR), which must be renewed every 2 years.
  • All staff, both clinical and non-clinical, will be trained in CPI as part of their orientation.
  • All direct patient care staff will be retrained every year.
  • One (1) year experience of inpatient adjunctive therapy
  • Basic knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests
  • Knowledge of assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
  • Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, cultures and their history and origins
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and direct therapeutic recreational programs and activities for patients.
  • Develop treatment plans to meet patient needs based on assessments, interests, and therapy objectives.
  • Conduct therapy sessions to improve patients’ mental and physical well-being.
  • Observe, analyze, and record patients’ participation, reactions, and progress during treatment sessions, modifying programs as needed.
  • Document patient progress or regression during activities.
  • Counsel and encourage patients to develop leisure activities.
  • Instruct patients in activities and techniques designed to meet their specific physical or psychological needs.
  • Encourage patients with special needs and circumstances to acquire new skills and get involved in healthy leisure activities.
  • Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, consulting with other health care professionals to determine a total treatment plan and recommend changes based on observations and evaluations.
  • Keep current on therapeutic resources available to best help patients.
  • Uphold the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.
