About The Position

Whitington Services for Children and Families is seeking an Additions Counselor who want to make a difference in the lives of others. We currently have full-time/part time contract and full-time/part-time employment openings to serve our Medicaid outpatient clinic, Fatherhood Engagement, Diversion program and opportunities to work with those overcoming additions and families living with a loved one dealing with dealing or in recovery from addiction. To join our growing staff in this role you must be a Licensed Addiction Counselor. Salary based on experience and licensing.

Requirements

  • Licensed Addiction Counselor Associate (LACA), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor Associate (LCACA), Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC)
  • Experience providing diagnostic assessments and therapy services to a full range of individuals from youth through adult.
  • Valid license in IN.
  • Valid malpractice insurance
  • Available to work flexible work schedule including evenings.
  • Superb organizational skills.
  • Ability to guide, direct or influence people.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with mentally or emotionally disables persons and their families.
  • Must have a current and valid Indiana driver’s license in accordance with Indiana DMV driver’s license eligibility requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with addiction, youth, adolescents, and adults preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating clients’ mental and physical health, addiction, or problematic behavior and assess their readiness for treatment.
  • Develop, recommend, and review treatment goals and plans with clients and their families.
  • Assist in planning and/or facilitating groups as necessary.
  • Assist clients in developing skills and behaviors necessary to recover from their addiction or modify their behavior.
  • Work with clients to identify behaviors or situations that interfere with their recovery.
  • Conduct outreach programs to help people identify the signs of addiction and other destructive behavior, as well as steps to take to avoid such behavior.
  • Provide intensive clinical therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and adults with identified behavioral health diagnosis.
  • Document and maintain records of clients' progress.
  • Work with each clients’ family members about addiction or behavior disorders and help them develop strategies to support clients in recovery.
  • Refer clients to other resources and services, such as job placement services and support groups.
  • Prepare clients for transition out of counseling through discharge planning.
  • Promote public awareness of Whitington through promotional activities and public speaking.
  • Assure the development and distribution of appropriate public information and marketing information related to the programs.
  • Maintain current goals and objectives, review periodically (at least annually) for self-evaluation and provide to the Associate Director as a part of the annual evaluation process.
  • Responsible for the general administration, operation, and management of all programs.
  • Ensure accurate and ethical appropriate billing related to services are provided.
  • Provide direct therapeutic services to clients
  • Provide individual and /or family therapy to internally referred clients.
  • Coordinate with psychiatrists, social workers, and community resources to provide holistic care
  • Maintain confidentiality of records relating to the client’s treatment.
  • Gather information about community mental health needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy.
  • Assess clients’ mental conditions based on review of client information, interviews, observation, test and collaboration with other staff.
  • Serve as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on diagnosis, clinical experience/knowledge, and clients presenting problem.
  • Conduct initial assessment and refer clients to internal or community resources as necessary.
  • Provide clinical documentation and assure that all filing of clinical information and submission of billing information is done accurately and within the time frame required.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal and state regulations and standards, including DCS regulations.
  • Attend weekly supervision with the Clinical Director.
  • Attend Group Supervision/Team Meetings monthly.
  • Other duties as assigned by CEO.
