About The Position

This role involves providing comprehensive addiction counseling services to clients in various settings. The Licensed Addiction Counselor will conduct assessments, develop trusting relationships with clients, and provide individual and group treatment. A significant portion of the work time will be dedicated to direct client services, including on-call crisis intervention. The counselor will collaborate with clients to set treatment goals, coordinate with external services for detoxification and ongoing treatment, and provide ongoing support for maintaining sobriety. Documentation of client progress is a key responsibility, as is maintaining the LAC license. The role may also involve training other agencies and transporting clients. The position requires adherence to HIPAA compliance with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) 42 CFR.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge of the practices and multiple methodology of chemical dependency counseling including the 12 Step Approach, which identifies steps to be followed in the treatment process, and other techniques.
  • Ability to develop individualized treatment plans, develop and participate in structured treatment sessions, deal with crisis situations, give public presentations, communicate orally and in writing, exercise emotional control, and to handle a wide variety of client personalities.
  • Must become certified as a Chemical Dependency Counselor within 2 years of starting practice, which involves completing a series of three competency based examinations.
  • Must be licensed as an Addiction Counselor.
  • Must have a valid Montana driver’s license, valid vehicle insurance and personal vehicle.
  • All Positions at Many Rivers Whole Health must pass Background Checks and Motor Vehicle Record Checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Dual licensure preferred.
  • Dual license LCPC or LCSW is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts chemical dependency assessments including substance abuse history, course of illness, response to treatment and present assessment results at daily team meetings and treatment planning meetings.
  • Develops a trusting relationship with clients so that they may more freely discuss substance use and its effect on mental and physical health and daily functioning.
  • Provides multiple-stage individual and group treatment in the office and in community settings.
  • Required to spend 60% of work time per week providing services to clients.
  • Provides on-call crisis intervention covering regular hours and serves as a backup to evening and weekend staff.
  • Participates in setting treatment goals and plans with clients to reduce or abstain from substance use and to learn replacement behaviors.
  • Coordinate with outside services to detoxify clients and establish linkage to outpatient treatment, self-help programs (e.g., Alcoholics anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous), outpatient services and residential facilities.
  • Provides ongoing assessment, problem solving, side-by-side services, skill training, supervision (e.g., prompts, assignments, monitoring, encouragement), and environmental adaptations to assist clients in maintaining sobriety.
  • Participates in the provision of supportive and rehabilitation services in clinical, vocational, and daily living activities.
  • Documents client progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to established methods and procedures.
  • May provide training on the identification of mentally ill and presentation of substance abuse individuals to agencies where these clients are likely to receive services.
  • Completes and appropriately maintains all required paperwork in accordance with Many Rivers policy.
  • Maintains LAC license, dual licensure preferred.
  • HIPAA Compliance with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) 42 CFR.
  • May need to transport clients in private vehicle.
