Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Florida
  • Demonstrated competency in essential clinical skills: vitals, injections, wound care, EHR documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient intake, triage, and basic nursing assessments.
  • Monitor vital signs, document findings in the EHR
  • Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure availability of supplies.
  • Assist physicians and other providers during exams and procedures (e.g., rooming patients, passing instruments, preparing supplies, handling specimens).
  • Collect specimens for lab testing (e.g., blood, urine) following proper procedures and safety protocols.
  • Administer routine medications as permitted by state regulations, under supervision of a licensed clinician (e.g., immunizations, injections, wound care).
  • Perform basic phlebotomy as trained and certified; label specimens, ensure proper chain-of-custody, and transport to the appropriate lab.
  • Apply and remove dressings, administer first aid, and provide patient education on procedures and aftercare.
  • Instruct patients on pre-visit requirements and post-visit care plans; provide medication instructions and safety information.
  • Manage infectious disease control and maintain universal precautions; dispose of biohazard waste properly.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and coordinate restocking as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations
  • Cross training to support administrative tasks such as scheduling, referrals, and recordkeeping
  • Provide patient education on medications, chronic disease management, and preventive care.
  • Obtains and appropriately files/shares completed patient paperwork and information.
  • Collaborate with volunteer and staff nurse practitioners, welcome services coordinator on patient care plan.
  • Contributes to a team environment of meeting program goals.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains documentation and records in the EMR in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
